While the words “quote”, “estimate”, “bid” and “tender” may be used interchangeably by some, there are distinct legal definitions for each word that can have a direct impact on a dispute between a contractor and client.
Using the wrong phrase in a contract or negotiations can result in a price no longer being considered fixed or a legally binding offer.
An “estimate” is simply a guess as to what the project will cost. The end price could be less or, likely, more.
A “quotation” or quote, on the other hand, is a legally binding fixed price for a fixed amount of work. The two phrases should not be used loosely.
A “tender” is a formal legal document prepared by a client setting out the specifics of a potential project and requesting “bids” or proposals from one or more contractors

However what we do is provide a detailed estimate outlining everything that is to be done under specific conditions and what we realistically believe it will cost.
We have always been very accurate with this and have never had to ask for more money.
We advise potential clients to use our estimate as a working document when obtaining other estimate or quotes to verify that you are going to be getting a like for like job.
Just be aware that often a cheaper price is because of inferior materials, less work being done or in some cases poor estimating skills.
All customers are required to pay 20% deposit in advance.
This covers some material costs and holds your appointment. Please use your name and address as reference when making bank transfer.

Please pay your deposit as soon as possible to secure your slot.
If two or more clients want the same date which is usually “start as soon as possible” the first to have payed a deposit gets priority. First come first served is the fairest way to resolve this.
The balance needs to be paid as soon as the job is completed unless otherwise stated in writing.
If this is not the case we reserve the right to implement a late fee.

In order that we can get on with the job we came to do, we ask that you remove all pictures and mirrors etc from the walls and move as much furniture as possible out of the room. Anything that cannot be removed we can put in the middle of the room and cover with dust sheets.
